The new Jesus movie

John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” I can imagine no greater love and could never fathom the sacrifice that comes with that depth of love. Jesus demonstrated that love for us when he was nailed to the cross of crucifixion and took on the sins of the world. His love is greater than any other love you can imagine. The new Jesus movie, Jesus…No Greater Love, will tell the story of Jesus from the New Testament book of John and captivate audiences with its cinematic design and quality. Unlike former Jesus film projects, this film will be aimed at reaching the next generation’s youth by focusing on “the man,” the persona of Christ as an emotional and relational being with an insurmountable love for his fellow man. Bruce Marchiano, who played the character of Jesus in the Visual Bible: Matthew, is the project’s current writer/producer. On the website www.newJesusmovie.com, Marchiano has created a blog that focuses on his journey through the fundraising process for the film and gives insight into his ongoing spiritual climb, following God throughout the pre-production for the Jesus film.
Faith is an action, not just lip service, and the new Jesus movie brings that faith into play. The site opens to reveal an engaging invitation to be a producer for the movie simply by giving $10 to the cause. The website targets you from the very beginning with videos and stories from people who have donated financially in order to make film production possible. The idea behind this is to incorporate people in this new movie by asking them to be the ones responsible for the success of the project. The home page gives you access to download videos from people who have already chosen to become producers in the new film scheduled to be released in 2011. When you become a producer, you also have the option of uploading your own video for others to watch. By focusing on the next generation, the new Jesus movie will bring the gospel of John into the Hollywood scene and make it an enticing and ideal video for 21st century believers and non-believers to watch.
Jesus…No Greater Love can be accessed from Facebook, Twitter, Tangle, and YouTube and is cruising through social media outlets, making it difficult not to notice this catchy site. The navigation bar will direct you to a donations link, as well as answer any questions you may have about the production of the movie. The vision for this video is to be able to spread the Word of God to as many nations as possible. Bruce and the others involved have aimed, “to reach the next generation with the whole story of Jesus, starting ‘In the beginning…’ using the latest CGI digital technology, breath-taking cinematography, and actors who truly capture the heart of the story.” The film will differ from other films in that it will be taken word for word from the gospel of John, with no alterations. The crew believes that the Word of God is more powerful than any dramatization could ever be, and with the help of prominent actors and enhanced graphic capabilities, the new Jesus movie will be able to impact lives around the world.
It may be hard for us, as Americans, to see this movie really making some kind of a difference in people’s lives, but it truly will change people. I recently came from Tanzania, Africa, where a group of people I was with taught a week-long pastoral conference to pastors in the surrounding areas. During the week, we held a cinema night and invited the town’s people to come and sit outside of the church and watch a film with us. The families and kids there had either never heard about Jesus or had never paid much attention to who he was because they showed by the dozens. The small kids huddled around an old projector as the Jesus film began to play. The reel played through, and at the finale, some of the Africans committed their lives to God! They watched a movie and became believers of the Almighty! Here is where I pray you listen and search this website for answers. You will receive them. With God all things are possible, and He is going to make Jesus…No Greater Love, a story that every household will want share.
